Goodbye, 2009.

On a personal level, 2009 wasn't really that bad of a year.  Sure, losing my job when BrightData shut down sucked, but at least I met some of my future co-conspirators (@jabide, @jeffbentley, @kevinleehansen, @mode23 and @fishinxpert) and I got a sweet gig at an agency called Rustic Creative quickly enough that the entire ordeal was nothing more than a mild inconvenience.  It also gave me a chance to hone my JavaScript and jQuery skillz.

It wasn't as good a year for all as quite a few of my friends and acquaintances suffered losses of either friend or family and others have gone through involuntary changes of circumstance.  To you, may your melancholy fade with the last few hours of 2009 leaving only memories and a brighter 2010.

A couple personal projects have reached the stage where they might start pulling their weight and the number of possibilities piling up are definitely giving the next year a very rosy glow.  It's almost enough to help me forget the fact that in a little over 3 months, my life is officially over: I turn 30.  (Which, now, doesn't seem as bad as it did at 22)

In short folks, as the oughts draw to a close, teachers haven't been replaced by cyborgs, Los Angeles is still firmly attached and being a pedestrian is still relatively safe, so I'd say the first decade of the 21st centry went better than anticipated.  Although, now that I think about it, we do still have 7 years before that Melanie Griffith thing...

Happy new year, everyone, and all the best for 2010.
